Jack Grimm Info

Postby Alvin Karpis » Tue Aug 18, 2009 10:54 pm

Hello!

My name is Dean and I am happy to have found this message board

I have been researching the Titanic since 1985

I am looking for anyone who can share info or thoughts on Jack Grimms expeditions and his "propeller" find

Thanks ahead of time and I look forward to being a part of this website for years to come

What is this video? It has nothing to do with the Titanic.

I dunno . . . a signature is okay (see mine, for instance, as well as many others on this and other boards) but it helps when the content of the the signature is germane to the topic at hand: in this case, the ocean liner Titanic. When, as with this video, the signature has nothing to do with the water or Jack Grimm (let alone ships) and hogs the space of the page, then it irks me. I'm in a good mood tonight and not out to be testy, but this really rubs me the wrong way.

I know quite a bit about Grimm and the rock that he photographed. Copies of the three expedition reports from 1980, 1981 and 1983 are in my collection (and made their way from my hands to Robert Ballard -- my sole contribution towards finding the ship) and I can assure you that the target he thought he'd tagged as the Titanic's propeller was not even close to the actual location -- although they did sail right over the ship on one occasion. Problem is that he was looking for a 900 foot object, not two chunks of it in pretty ratty shape.

But, for the record, you are wasting your time on the rock. That is all it was.

I have no problem not having a sig

I read the rules and didnt see anything about that, so my bad, I only want to rub people the right way :D

Thanks for that info on Grimm, do you by chance have any of the pictures that they took of the rock/propeller? The only copy I have seen is in Ballards book (Discovery of Titanic)

I am interested because of Jacks other expeditions (Noahs Ark, Loch Ness, etc) that have caught my attention, the rich kid who needs to find ways to spend his $$$$

Are there any published photos, Timothy, other than in Ballard's book? Google images has "niente" [tips hat to Fabrizio].

All I have of the rock is the supposed footage from whatever documentary was put out (isn't that the expedition with that d----d monkey as a mascot?) and a couple of still wirephoto images -- but these are all copyright and I don't have permission to post them.

Rest assured, it was a rather normal looking rock.
