Maija Emelia Abraham Panula was traveling with her five children, Ernesti Arvid Panula, Jaako Arnold Panula, Juha Niilo Panula, Urho Abraham Panula, and Eino Viljam Panula. plus a family friend, Susanna Juhantytär Riihivuori.
They all boarded Titanic at Southampton, on Wednesday, 10th April, 1912, and were bound for Coal Center, Pennsylvania.
The entire Panula family were lost in the sinking, together with Susanna Juhantytär Riihivuori, and none of their bodies were recovered.
However, in 2002, in an effort to try to identify the 'Unknown Child', a team from Lakehead University, Ontario, Canada managed to prove, using D.N.A., that Eino Viljam Panula was indeed the body in the grave of the 'Unknown Child'.
