John Jacob Astor was, without exception, the wealthiest passenger aboard Titanic. He was traveling back home to New York after holidaying in Egypt with his new bride, 19-year old wife Madeleine Talmage Astor, who was pregnant. He had married Miss Madeleine Force in Providence, Rhode Island on September 9th, 1911.
John Jacob Astor was head of the Astor family, with a personal fortune of approximately $150,000,000.
Also traveling with John Jacob Astor was his personal manservant, Victor Robbins, plus Madeleine Talmage Astor's personal maid, Rosalie Bidios, and finally, Caroline Endres, Madeleine Talmage Astor's nursemaid, with her on the voyage because of her pregnancy.
The Astor party were all ticketed together on ticket number 17754, cost £224 10s 6d, and all shared the same suite C62 apart from Caroline Endres, who was accommodated in C45.
John Jacob Astors body was recovered from the sea on Monday, 22nd of April by the crew of the Mackay-Bennett, body number 124, and he was buried in Trinity Cemetery, New York.
