Nomadic I was constructed at the Belfast yard of Harland and Wolff in 1891, for the White Star Line, and she was launched on the 11th February, 1891, her maiden voyage between Liverpool and New York followed on the 24th April. Nomadic I was a livestock carrier, and her sister ship was Tauric.
Nomadic I was renamed Cornishman in 1904, operating on the U.S. and Canadian routes.
In 1921, Cornishman, together with her sister, was moved to Frederick Leyland & Co., carrying the same name, and operating on the same routes.
In March, 1926, Cornishman was sold for £10,500, and on the 12th March, she arrived to be broken up at Hayle, in Cornwall.
