Mini Biography

Sarah Daniels boarded the Titanic at Southampton, England, on Wednesday, 10th April, 1912, traveling to Montreal, Quebec.

Also traveling aboard Titanic in the Allison family entourage were Hudson Joshua Creighton Allison, his wife, Bessie Waldo Allison his daughter, Helen Loraine Allison and his son, Hudson Trevor Allison. Alice Catherine Cleaver, who was Hudson Trevor Allison's nursemaid, Sarah Daniels, nursemaid to Helen Loraine Allison, George Swane, the family's chauffeur, and Amelia Mary Brown, a cook, were also aboard.

Alice Catherine Cleaver had taken Hudson Trevor Allison up to the boat deck, and boarded lifeboat No. 11, however, Alice Catherine Cleaver had not told anyone from the Allison family entourage where she was going, and consequently, Hudson Joshua Creighton Allison, Bessie Waldo Allison and Helen Loraine Allison, together with Sarah Daniels, George Swane and Amelia Mary Brown spent the best part of the next two hours desperately looking for the pair who were not even still aboard Titanic.

Probably as a result of this fruitless searching, Hudson Joshua Creighton Allison, Bessie Waldo Allison, and Helen Loraine Allison were all lost, Helen Loraine Allison being the only child in both first and second class to be lost in the sinking of Titanic. George Swane was also lost, but Sarah Daniels and Amelia Mary Brown survived, together with Hudson Trevor Allison and Alice Catherine Cleaver. Only Hudson Joshua Creighton Allison's body was recovered and identified.
